Happy Days

Trapped in the earth, clinging to hope.

Winnie is buried up to her waist—and later, her neck—but she refuses to give in. Armed with a bag of everyday objects, she fills the long hours with routine, memory, and relentless optimism. Meanwhile, her companion, Willie, lingers just out of reach, offering little but the occasional muttered word.

Is Winnie’s cheerfulness a sign of madness, resilience, or something in between? Stark, unsettling, and darkly funny, Samuel Beckett’s Happy Days is a haunting meditation on endurance, isolation, and the human need to keep going, no matter what.
