Three Sisters

A year has passed since their father died but the three sisters – Lolo, Nne Chukwu and Udo – are still grappling with his loss. What’s more, they’re stuck in a small village in Owerri, Nigeria and are longing to return to the cosmopolitan city of their birth, Lagos. What they don’t know is that the Biafran Civil War is about to erupt and change their lives and their country. Chekhov’s classic play is reimagined to explore the devastation of colonialism and a fight for emancipation through the lens of a family and love.

North American Premiere

The slow burn of Otu’s production...paid off as it led up to a succession of deeply moving, brilliantly acted moments in its final minutes that I won’t soon forget.

- The Globe and Mail

It’s hard to imagine a stronger cast than the one Otu’s assembled.

- The Toronto Star

Soulpepper and Obsidian have mustered a starry cast of Black Canadian actors who work together as a beautifully tight-knit ensemble.

- The Stage Door

A superb not to be missed re-imagining.
