JOANNA MAJOKO
Joanna Majoko is a Toronto-based vocalist, composer, and bandleader whose emotionally rich performances and genre-blurring sound have positioned her as one of Canada’s most versatile and sought-after artists. She has collaborated with acclaimed musicians including Larnell Lewis, Ulysses Owens Jr., Jane Bunnett, and Charlotte Day Wilson, and regularly performs at major venues and festivals across North America and Europe. Majoko is the featured vocalist on Curtis Nowosad’s upcoming album I Am Doing My Best, and has appeared on JUNO-nominated recordings by Larnell Lewis (Slice of Life) and Laila Biali (Wintersongs). She is also the voice behind one of Toronto’s most in-demand Candlelight concerts: Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, and the Women of Jazz featuring Joanna Majoko. A dedicated educator and cross-disciplinary collaborator, Majoko has worked with institutions, dancers, and theatre companies across Canada. She is currently developing her debut full-length album, exploring voice, rhythm, and ancestral narrative through a deeply personal lens.
