THE MILL (Part Three): The Woods

THEATREFRONT

March 18 – April 3, 2010
Tickets: $15 – $30

1640. The mill does not yet exist. The woods stand, a former Wendat settlement recently decimated by imported epidemics and ideals. The First Peoples and the French settlers set the wheels in motion for the terror that will haunt this country for hundreds of years to come. THE MILL is the biggest project ever undertaken by Theatrefront - a series of four full-length plays, written by four Canadian playwrights, starring the same ensemble of actors. All four plays follow the lives of the inhabitants of Brody, a small rural Canadian pioneer town. Throughout the series we learn the horrifying story of the mill's past, and the secrets of the town's inhabitants.

About Theatrefront

Theatrefront believes in crossing borders – both geographic and artistic - to create unique dramatic work infused with music, movement and media. Since its first Toronto production in 1999, numerous Dora nominations and critical acclaim have placed Theatrefront at the forefront of Canada’s independent theatre community. Theatrefront’s productions are self-devised, created collaboratively by the ensemble and often take them abroad. Acclaimed productions of RETURN (The Sarajevo Project) in 2006 and UBUNTU (The Cape Town Project) in 2009 were both created in collaboration with foreign artists before their Toronto premieres. The Mill now brings Theatrefront back to Canada for an investigation of our own national identity. The finale of THE MILL (Part Four): Ash premieres next season and will be joined by Parts One, Two and Three, all playing in repertory at the Tank House Theatre.
