The Collisions Dance Festival is a weekend packed full of innovative dance, music and choreography, comprising a wide range of multidisciplinary performances, spontaneous creations, artist interviews and audience integration, in a format that allows you to experience up to 5 shows in a single "collision."

Featured pieces include:
Moving Conversations - featuring interviews with some of Canada's top dancers and choreographers: including Evelyn Hart, Rex Harrington, Karen & Allen Kaeja, Charmaine Headley & BaKari E. Lindsay, and Peggy Baker.
Hot Seat - conceptualized by Andrea Nann, Claudia Moore, and Roberto Campanella, Hot Seat involves 5 dancers, 2 musicians, and 1 spoken word artist with a guest choreographer in the “hot seat” who has 20 minutes to create a piece on the spot (in front of an audience). Guest choreographers include Karen Kaeja, Matjash Mrozewski, Julia Aplin, Patrick Parson, BaKari E. Lindsay, Eroca Nicols, and Ryan Lee.
Virtuosic Toronto - conceived by Young Centre Resident Artist Waleed Abdulhamid, Andrea Nann, Noah Richler, and Suba Sankaran, involves music and choreography created to film footage of everyday Torontonians doing their jobs with a high level of artistry.
Marble - a multidisciplinary showcase performance of works developed by the 11 participants of the Young Centre’s Emerging Artists Program; directed by Weyni Mengesha in collaboration with Roberto Campanella.
Barlight - a 20 minute duet that follows two curious female characters as they navigate their way through mood-altering scenes. Choreographed by Dora award-winner Susie Burpee and performed by Claudia Moore with Kristy Kennedy, Barlight echoes the film noir era, when drama reigned supreme.
Exploded Music/ Expanded Dance - created by David Buchbinder, Roberto Campanella and Robert Glumbek, this piece explores the continuum between sound and movement to bridge together the musician and the dancer. Also featuring Tyler Gledhill, Kelly Shaw, Daniel Fortin and Dave Restivo.
Emoticonics - a love story told through dance and beatbox, directed by Weyni Mengesha, choreographed and performed by Troy Feldman and Kristy Kennedy, sound designed and performed by aka SUBLIMINAL, and video and lights by Lorenzo Savoini, with choreographic consulting by Heidi Strauss.
Young Centre City Choir - a community-based, multi-ethnic vocal ensemble, directed and conducted by the Resident Artists of the Young Centre, the City Choir will make its debut appearance at Collisions (led by John Millard, Patricia O’Callaghan, and Waleed Abdulhamid).
Social Dance - each Collision closes with audiences and artists participating in a fun and accessible social dance led by one of the following instructors: Roberto Campanella (Italian folk), Miko Sobreira (salsa), Emily Law (house & funk), and Roula Said (belly-dance).
