In celebration of the 80th anniversary of Japan-Canada relations AKA Dance presents White Moon Dance Nights, four evenings of contemporary dance showcasing both Canadian and Japanese dance aesthetics and their points of interaction. Featuring a range of excellent dancers and choreographers of both Canadian and Japanese heritage including Denise Fujiwara, Keiko Ninomiya, Matjash Mrozewski, Amy Hampton and Tokyo artist Kinya Zulu Tsuruyama, the event is a fusion and a celebration of these two cultures.

About AKA Dance

AKA Dance was founded by dance artists Keiko Ninomiya and Amy Hampton. The company’s signature aesthetic is a blend of Japanese and Canadian traditions drawing from diverse forms, from butoh to ballet. AKA Dance has created works for the street, the stage and the classroom and continues to build new audiences for dance through education and collaboration. AKA Dance has performed at the Luminato Festival, the Fringe Festival, the Junction Arts Festival and Dance Ontario DanceWeekend. Most recently, AKA Dance represented Canada at the Dance Ga Mitai Festival International Series in Tokyo, Japan.
