About Across Oceans

Across Oceans, directed by Maxine Heppner, produces international events in Canada and worldwide, with  acclaimed performing, visual and literary artists, and interactions created specially for specific environments and communities. In conventional theatres, galleries, rice fields, city harbours, the events are produced to delight in the collaboration between artists, individuals and communities through the arts. Maxine Heppner is a Toronto-based choreographer and cross-disciplinary artist known for her bold approaches to performance since the late 70’s. She works in Canada, Europe and Asia as a guest artist, mentor, and teacher.  Most recently her work “Moments in Time” for Takako Segawa was described as “exposing the very heart of the human condition.” Toronto Globe and Mail, September 2009. KRIMA! was first produced in Athens Greece at Booze Cooperativa in support of the Central Athens Immigrant Centre. In Toronto we are fundraising with DAILY BREAD food bank, linking awareness and empathy with social action.
